NUS High School's 4th Student Council Elections

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,

NUS High School's Student Council Elections are here again. Our school has been running for the third year this year. There is a new Student Council being elected every year and this year is no different.

This year's theme is Pb (Lead), and it was chosen to symbolize lead being not only a basic element of nature, but also a basic element of NUS High School. Hence, we hope that Pb would naturally bring out the true essence of NUS High School leadership. We want to recruit capable students who exhibit the leadership potential to join the NUS High School Student Council to serve the student body!!

Who is eligible?

All Year 2 to Year 4 students are eligible to apply for Student Council 2008.
Your previous Semestral CAP must be 3.0 or higher.
You must have no past records of serious offences in or out of school.

How to apply?

Application forms will be available closer to the elections date and you just need to grab a form and fill it up. After which, just drop the completed form into a collection box in the General Office before 25th July 2007, at 6pm. Keep your fingers crossed and wait for further notification.

How do we ensure the best in our Student Council?

There will be interviews by our own student councillors and teachers-in-charge of the student council. They are tentatively held on 7th August, 11th August, 13th and 14th August. Most interviews will be conducted during the breaks and the lunches, and after school hours everyday. Timetable for interviewees will be drafted and distributed before this phase.

Prove your worth to the school!!

On 17th August, the candidates that are eligible to campaign would be announced during morning assembly. They would then be given a briefing on Wednesday. Also, a copy of the Campaigning Handbook will be given to each candidate, addressing key rules and regulations to follow with regards to campaigning during this period, as well as other administrative matters.

For the rest of the campaigning period (From 20th to 28th August), candidates who wish to make campaign speeches will need to sign their names on the Council notice-board, after which they will need to make their efforts to publicize their own campaign speeches and gather their own crowds. However, all candidates are expected to follow rules as stated in the Campaigning Handbook, otherwise they will be disqualified.

Polling and Results

The polls will be held on 29th August. Everyone is required to vote for your future leaders. We know you want to decide who are going to lead the school to greater heights. Results will be announced on a later date.
